This isn't another article about Superman at the bowling alley, but about a video I found of a professional bowler doing his split-second impression of Superman, or an impression of Superman trying to fly with a ball that he doesn't realize contains traces of kryptonite, however you want to look at it.

The pro bowler steps up to the line and makes his approach, and on his release--well, let's just say there was no release.
When I was looking for video clips for my blog entry about
the bowling alley scene from Superman 3, I happened to find this video on
FreshTribe.com, a web site that features funny videos, funny Flash movies, and other funny stuff. (Credit for the photo goes to them as well.) In the video, a professional bowler grabs his ball of the ball return, steps up to the line, and makes his approach. But on his release, or what was supposed to be his release, the ball sticks to his fingers. I have seen a professional bowler's ball stick to his fingers, but he stayed behind the foul line, and if anything, just lost his balance for a second and quickly got it back. And if I remember correctly, that happened to me once or twice, too. But this pro bowler put so much power and momentum into his stroke that he was knocked clear off his feet and took a dive on the lane, sliding about halfway down the alley after doing a hard belly flop. I don't think that's happened much at all. In fact, I think most bowlers, myself included, would say that they've had the ball slip out of their fingers a lot more than they've had the ball stick to their fingers. So footage like this is a rare jewel.
I have to admire his recovery, though. He slid back into a crawling-like position, and managed to get up, turn around, and walk off the lane without slipping. Maybe this wasn't his first time pulling a stunt like that, or he had seen this happen to others and learned from them. Either that or they train pro bowlers for such an occurence, I don't know. When he walked off the lane, he didn't look too happy, and his shirt was messed up and had stains from the lane oil. But the best part is that he was okay, and now he and the rest of us have something we can look back on and laugh at.
My only complaint is there was no sound on the video. This was probably to save bandwidth, but may have also been for legal purposes (this was ESPN's video of their PBA broadcast), but I wish I could have heard how the crowd reacted to that and what the commentators had to say about that. If anyone saw this when it was actually broadcasted on TV, please post a comment and let us know how the crowd reacted and all. But this is still very funny and is a must-see.

Here's another one from FreshTribe.com. Have you ever tried a new challenge when bowling, such as bowling with your left hand (assuming of course you're right-handed, otherwise bowling with your right hand) or even bowling backwards? This guy tried bowl
